A Surge in Activity

The end of the year is an exciting time in the auction industry. Buyers and sellers are eager to transact business, leading to a noticeable uptick in lot counts. This period sees a mix of retirement sellers who have completed their last harvest and are ready to enjoy their hard-earned leisure time, as well as existing producers making plans for the next growing season.

Market Trends

The auction market experienced a slight dip in the middle of the summer, with a significant amount of equipment sold in 2024. However, inventory levels with dealers and producers have since stabilized, and there's now an upward trend in pricing structures. This positive shift is promising for sellers, indicating a strong performance towards the end of the year.

Upcoming Auctions

Big Iron hosts auctions every Wednesday, selling a wide range of items 52 weeks a year. As the year-end approaches, there is a notable increase in retirement sales, particularly in the central plains and Midwest regions. These sales feature high-quality equipment from retiring producers, alongside the regular weekly Wednesday sales.
