The content in this blog is derived from my interviews with Dale Ireland- Technical Product Lead for Syngenta Seed Care, and Travis Gustafson- Agronomic Service Representative for Syngenta.

Seed Treatments: Strength in Every Seed

Dale Ireland, a technical product lead for Syngenta Seed Care, shared highlights of Syngenta's latest seed treatment innovations for corn and soybean growers. At the forefront is CruiserMaxx® APX, a fungicide and insecticide powerhouse with two robust modes of action targeting key diseases like Pythium and Phytophthora. It provides comprehensive protection for germinating seeds and seedlings, shielding them from soil-borne diseases such as Fusarium, Rhizoctonia, and seed-borne pathogens.

For growers battling Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) or nematode threats, Saltro® offers unparalleled protection at a low use rate. Additionally, it provides a solution for the emerging challenge of red crown rot in soybeans, which has been steadily spreading across counties.

Looking ahead, Syngenta is gearing up for the launch of Tymirium® Technology, set to revolutionize the market in 2026 under the brand name Victrato®. This groundbreaking seed treatment will deliver the industry's most effective nematode protection, offering statistical superiority over existing products. Victrato® will also be the first federally labeled seed treatment for red crown rot, alongside suppression of foliar diseases like frogeye leaf spot. Its low use rate and unmatched efficacy promise to elevate Syngenta's portfolio to new heights.

Herbicides: A Shield Against Resistant Weeds

Shifting gears to weed management, Travis Gustafson, an agronomic service representative, spotlighted Storen®, a corn herbicide launched in 2024. With four active ingredients providing exceptional residual performance, Storen® targets troublesome resistant weeds like Palmer amaranth. As a pre-emerge residual herbicide, it prevents weed emergence and reduces reliance on post-emerge applications, ultimately saving farmers money.

For soybean growers, Syngenta's Tendovo® herbicide offers a triple-mode action that combines long-lasting residual control with crop safety. This solution is a formidable ally against resistant weeds, delivering stellar performance in the field.

Empowering Farmers

Syngenta's mission to support growers with innovative solutions extends beyond their products. By incorporating these seed treatments and herbicides into their operations, farmers can boost yield, reduce costs, and combat emerging agricultural challenges effectively.

For more information or assistance, growers are encouraged to connect with their local Syngenta representatives or reach out through their co-ops.
