The content in this blog is derived from my interview with Johanna Anderes- Development Coordinator, Kansas FFA Foundation
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Johanna Anderes, Development Coordinator for the Kansas FFA Foundation, about the special FFA sale at Heartland Regional Stockyards on February 11th. This event is a remarkable initiative aimed at supporting both statewide and local FFA chapters through a $1 per head donation. This donation is split between Kansas FFA and a local chapter of the donor's choosing.
Due to the support from Heartland Regional Stockyards and the dedicated team led by Lloyd and Judy Snchneider and Brandon Hamel, this event has grown significantly over the past three years.
The day's activities will begin with the weigh-up sale at 10 a.m. and will include a meal for attendees, sponsored by E&E Ag Insurance, Hubbard Feed, Dix Angus Ranch, and High Plains Farm Credit. The stocker-feeder sale will start at noon, and throughout the day, there will be plenty of opportunities to make donations to support FFA. Some area FFA members will also be helping out in the barn.
Last year, this event supported 12 local FFA chapters, and this year, the goal is to impact even more. With 14,000 members statewide in 232 chapters, and over 1,100 members in 31 chapters in Northwest Kansas alone, this sale provides an incredible opportunity for everyone to support the future of agriculture.
For those interested in consigning livestock, you can contact Heartland Regional Stockyards to consign your cattle at 785-688-4080. Heartland Regional Stockyards will match all per head donations on the day, doubling the impact of every dollar donated. This generous offer from Heartland Regional Stockyards underscores their belief in the potential of this event to make a significant difference for FFA.
