"You may have heard the quote from President Eisenhower. "Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you're a thousand miles from the cornfield." While this remains true today, companies like CropLife America are making sure that farmers' voices are heard. I spoke with Alexandra Dunn, President and CEO of CropLife America, about how their initiative, Farmer Voices Matter, works," said Stoddard.

"They look up farmervoicesmatter.org and by putting in their zip code, the website knows who their member of Congress is. And it will send a letter from them to their member of Congress. And it's a really kind of straightforward simple letter that says something along the lines of I'm an American farmer, I'm a steward of my land. It's really important for me to have access to crop protection tools and I urge you to support, for example, them in the farm bill or feel free to contact me to learn more," Dunn said.

"Dunn wants policymakers to consider farmers' thoughts and opinions in their legislation," Stoddard said.

"And so one of the things that we think is super important to help set good policy for farmers

is to make sure that farmer voices are loud and clear and heard here in Washington," Dunn said.

"Not only can farmers help shape policy, but they are a trusted voice that many people turn to," Stoddard said.

"But one of the most trusted voices in America are farmers. Statistics show that people believe farmers. They really do. They rank higher than doctors. They rank higher than politicians. No surprise. They rank higher than corporate officials.People love farmers and they really trust them. So having their voices heard, it's like a home run," Dunn said.
