As farmers continue to face challenges from persistent crop diseases, new tools are entering the market to help protect yields. Representatives from BASF are highlighting their latest fungicide innovation—Zorina—and what it could mean for producers across the region.
Zorina fungicide is BASF’s newest product designed to target white mold and other foliar diseases. While many fungicides are tailored to a single crop, Zorina stands out for its versatility, with use across soybeans, dry beans, and canola.
White mold remains a significant concern for producers, particularly in the northern Plains and upper Midwest. Estimates show soybean growers lost more than $260 million to white mold in 2024 alone. Because of that impact, much of the focus surrounding Zorina centers on controlling this highly prevalent disease.
Although some farmers may have heard of Zorina in 2025 through demonstration programs, the product is now officially available for purchase in 2026. Those demonstrations provided valuable performance data and helped set the stage for a full commercial launch.
For producers in Kansas—especially in eastern parts of the state where soybean production is prominent—Zorina offers several key advantages. The product is built on three main pillars, starting with its chemistry. It combines two proprietary components from BASF, including Endura fungicide, which has a strong track record against white mold, along with an additional component that enhances residual control. This allows for effective early disease protection and extended control later into the growing season.
Another notable feature is the product’s formulation. Zorina has been tested under high UV conditions, an important factor in agriculture where sunlight can break down products over time. Its UV-stable formulation helps ensure the fungicide remains effective longer after application, even in hot and sunny environments like those often experienced in Kansas.
This combination of strong disease control, extended residual activity, and durability in harsh environmental conditions provides growers with added confidence throughout the season.
As new products like Zorina become available, they offer additional options for farmers looking to protect yield potential and better manage disease pressure in an ever-changing agricultural landscape.
